Two Hats
Hat # 1: Puff Stitch Hat
Size: Ladies small, medium in ( ).
Materials: Worsted wt. Yarn. 3 ˝ oz. Red or blue or color of choice.
Hook: Size G or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 4 rounds = 1"; 7 sc = 2"
Super Saver yarn was used for the samples.
NOTE: Work in rounds. Turn at the end of each round.
Crown:
Rnd 1: Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring, ch 1, 10 sc in ring. Join, turn.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join, turn. (20 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, * sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. Join, turn. (30
sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *sc in 2 st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. Join, turn. (40 sc)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in each st. Join, turn.
NOTE: Crown will NOT lay flat.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, *sc in 4 st, sc and tr in next st, repeat from * around. Join, turn.
Rnd 7: Repeat round 5.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in next 2 st, *sc and tr in next st, sc in next 5 st, repeat from *
around. End with sc in next 3 sts. Join, turn.
Rnd 9: Repeat round 5.
Rnd 10:Ch 1, sc in next 6 sc, * sc and tr in next st, sc in next 6 sc, repeat from *
around. Join, turn.
Rnd 11:Repeat round 5.
Rnd 12:Ch 1, sc in next 3 st, * sc and tr in next st, sc in next 7 sc, repeat from *
around. End with sc in next 4 st. Join, turn.
Rnd 13:Repeat round 5.
FOR MEDIUM SIZE ONLY:
Rnd 14:Ch 1,* sc in next 8 st, sc and tr in next st, repeat from * around. Join, turn.
Rnd 15:Repeat round 5.
SIDES:
Rnd 14 (16): With wrong side facing, ch 1, FPSC in each st around. Join, DO
NOT TURN.
Rnd 15 (17): With wrong side facing, ch 1, sc in next 7 (4) st, *tr in next st, sc in
next 8 (9) st, repeat from * around. End with sc in next 1
- st. Join, turn.
Rnd 16 (18): Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join, turn.
Rnd 17 (19): Ch 1, sc in next 2 (9) st, *tr in next st, sc in next 8 (9) st, repeat
from * around. Ending with sc in next 6 st, tr in last st.
Join, turn.
Rnd 18 (20): Repeat round 16 (18).
Rnd 19 (21): Repeat round 15 (17).
Rnd 20 (22): Repeat round 16 (18).
Rnd 21 (23): Repeat round 17 (19).
Rnd 22 (24): Ch 1, sc in next 7 (8) st, sc next 2 tog. Repeat around.
Rnd 23 (25): Right side facing, sl st in each st around, fasten off. Weave in ends.
Hat # 2: Ribbed Stitch Hat
Size: small, medium, and large in ( ).
Materials: Worsted wt yarn, 3 ˝ oz. tan or white, or color of choice.
Hook: Sizes G and E
Gauge: With G hook, 4 rnds = 1"; 4 st = 1"
Super Saver yarn was used for the samples.
NOTE: Work in continuous rnds…do not join.
Crown:
Rnd 1: With G hook, ch 4, join with sl st to form ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring (8 st).
Mark last st.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around (16 st)
Rnd 3: * sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. ( 24 st)
Rnd 4: FPDC around marked st 2 rows below, do not sk a st, sc in next 3 st, *sk 1
st on rnd 2, FPDC around next st, sc in next 3 st, repeat from *
around.
Rnd 5: *FPDC around sc 2 rows below (1 rnd above and to the right of 1st FPDC),
sc in next 4 st, repeat form * around.
Rnd 6: *FPDC around sc 2 rows below (directly above FPDC on previous row),
sc in next 5 st, repeat from * around.
Rnd 7: *FPDC around sc 2 rows below (directly above FPDC on previous row),
sc in next 6 st, repeat from * around.
Rnd 8: *FPDC around sc 2 rows below as before, sc in next 7 st, repeat from
* around.
Rnd 9: *FPDC around sc 2 rows below, sc in next 8 sts, repeat from * around.
Rnd 10:*FPDC around sc 2 rows below, sc in next 9 sts. Repeat from * around.
Rnd 11:*FPDC around sc 2 rows below, sc in next 10 st, repeat from * around.
FOR MEDIUM AND LARGE ONLY:
Rnd 12:*FPDC around sc 2 rows below, sc in next 11 st, repeat from * around.
FOR LARGE ONLY:
Rnd 13:*FPDC around sc 2 rows below, sc in next 12 st, repeat from * around.
RIBBING:
CHANGE TO E HOOK:, sl st in next st.
Row 12, (13, 14): Wrong side facing, FPSC around next sc, ch 13, turn, sc in
2nd ch from hook and in next 11 ch, FPSC around
next 2 sc on crown, ch 1, turn.
Row 13, (14, 15): Sc in back loop of next 12 st, ch 1, turn.
Row 14, (15, 16): Sc in back loop of next 12 st, FPSC around next 2 st on
crown, repeat last 2 rows around crown. At end of
last row, place 1st and last rows together, sl st to-
gether. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
